Job Description

Student Developer for Regulatory Calculator and Quote Tool Web Application

Project Overview

We're seeking a student developer to transform an existing React-based regulatory calculator and automated quote tool into a functioning web application. The calculator helps UK businesses understand and calculate their EU regulatory obligations when exporting products to Europe, while the quote tool automates the pricing process for these services.

What's Already Available

  • Complete React code for the calculator and quote tool (approximately 1200 lines)
  • All calculation logic and user interface components
  • Interactive dashboard with charts and visualizations
  • Quote generation functionality with customizable parameters
  • Working prototype that runs in Claude AI's environment

What We Need

A student developer to:

  • Convert the existing code into a deployable web application
  • Implement the automated quote generation functionality
  • Set up proper hosting so the calculator and quote tool are accessible online
  • Ensure the application works on desktop browsers and tablets
  • Create simple documentation for using and maintaining the application

Required Skills

  • React.js experience (essential)
  • Experience with chart libraries (preferably Recharts)
  • Basic understanding of web hosting and deployment
  • Familiarity with UI component libraries and form handling
  • Experience with automated PDF generation preferred
  • Bonus: Understanding of regulatory compliance or international trade reporting

Ideal Candidate

  • Computer Science/Software Engineering student (2nd year or above)
  • Portfolio showing previous React projects
  • Interest in international trade or regulatory compliance
  • Available to work flexibly

Project Scope & Budget

  • Timeline: 1 week for completion
  • £14ph
  • This is a fixed project, not ongoing employment
  • Work can be completed remotely

Project Context

This calculator and quote tool will be used by UK businesses preparing for EU regulatory requirements. The calculator helps companies understand the financial implications of new regulations on their export products, while the automated quote tool will generate accurate, professional quotes for services based on user inputs.

Please include:
